Blessy's "Pranayam" starring Mohanlal, Anupam Kher and Jayaprada in key roles released today,August 31st with a good opening. The movie produced by Mr Sajeev P.K under the banner of Fragrant Nature Films.

Right from the heart of Blessy, here is a story about love, the emotion that can take many dimensions and touch everyone's heart in unexpected ways. "Pranayam" based on the minute aspects and depth in relationships. Like the bond between husband and wife , father and his children, mother and children.'Pranayam' claims to be discussing a theme that has special relevance. Anupam Kher plays Achutha Menon, a football player who had got selected in the State team but could never play for the team. He moulded his life and career to accommodate the romance in his life. Jayaprada's character enacts a character called Grace Mathews, the wife of a philosophy professor named Mathews, played by Mohanlal. Anoop Menon essays the role of Suresh Menon, Achutha Menon's son. The movie depicts a Love bond between Mathews, Grace and Achutha Menon. The power of 'Pranayam'

starts to weave its magic over these three. But to their unpleasant surprise, a fatal turn of events cause chaos in the thread. What are these fatal events that cause a ruckus of emotions describes the basic essence of this film. Mohanlal as usual excelled with the ease of acting skills to enact Mathews ,will be his best ever role in recent times. Aupem Kher mesmerized as Achutha Menon.The person who steals the show is Jayaprada, who delivers a sterling performance as Grace.She breathes so much life into her character. Anoop Menon has also done a wonderful job, especially climax part. Dhanya Mary, Niyas,Nayana, Apoorva Bose, Aaryan and Nivedtha have done their roles with perfection. The greatest asset that Pranayam has is its cast. The magnitude of chemistry between Mohanlal, AnupamKher and Jayaprada is mind blowing. Taking technical sides, through Pranayam Blessy succeeds in every aspect of film making. Cinematography by Satheesh Kurup and Editing by Raja Mohammed adds to the mood of the story in a huge way. M.Jayachandran's music is melodious, especially "Paatil ee Paatil.. song that is another highlight of the film. In spite of excellent performances and equally good technical support, the film delivers a class movie. We have seen so many triangular love stories in all languages, but 'Pranayam' does not fit into the genre represented by those films. Feel 'Pranayam' its something really different ! The movie however moves at a very slow pace and the makeup at times is very heavy. Overall, “PRANAYAM” is a very good movie with its mind and heart and Love in all the right places...!!!! Mohanlal act Bheeman’s role in Randamoozham

Superstar Mohanlal is all set to give life to Jnanpith winner M.T. Vasudevan Nair’s angst-ridden Bheeman in Randamoozham a mega film being planned by director Hariharan.

There was intense speculation in filmdom on who would portray Bheeman, the Pandava warrior of Mahabharata, whom MT presented in his 1984 novel as a tragic character, always playing second fiddle to the more heroic Arjuna, misunderstood and derided as a muscleman by friend and foe.

Hariharan is learnt to have finally zeroed in on Mohanlal and held discussions with him on the project for which MT is penning the script.

Mr Antony Perumbavoor , the actor’s secretary and partner in Aashirvad Cinemas, told Deccan Chronicle that Mohanlal was all excited about the role.

“It is a role which has been in his mind for long and he is greatly thrilled to be part of the MT-Hariharan team again,” he said. However, Mr Antony added that only a preliminary discussion had been held and the project was yet to assume final shape.

Hariharan, fresh from the success of “Pazhassi Raja,” is planning Randamoozham as another epic multilingual movie.

The Hariharan-Mohanlal-MT combination had creates such remarkable films as Panchagni, and Amrutamgamaya earlier.

Mr Antony said the movie is likely to be costlier than the Rs 25 crore Pazhassi Raja.

China town superb..!!
Watched 'China town ' FDFS from Trivandrum Kairali.Its an out and out comedy feast. Directors Rafi-Mecartin has given a good festival mood film. Hollywood flick Hangover has inspired the 2nd half of the movie. The Comedy Kings of Malayalam Cinema - Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep has excelled in their respective roles.Suraaj venjaramood is back to his best after a long time. Sumo wretler D'Souza Libor and Villian Pradeep Rawat(Ghajini fame) also gave notable performances. The film is definitely worth a watch. Rating:- 7.5/10...

Mohanlal's eagely awaited multi-starrer and his big 2011 summer-Vishu release China Town, has been censored by the Regional Censors in Thiruvananthapuram.

The 2 hours 22 minutes film carries a clean 'U' certificate and is said to be a rollicking comedy.

China Town directed by Rafi-Mecartin is a multi-starrer comedy film featuring Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, Poonam Bajwa, Dipasha, Jagathi Sreekumar and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Ghajini fame villain Pradeep Rawat is making his debut in Malayalam as the main villain of the film.

The film slated for release on April 15, Vishu day is likely to release in nearly 200 screens worldwide like Christian Brothers did a few weeks back.

The producer Antony Perumbavoor who has always been reluctant to go for saturation release, seeing market conditions may go now for a very big release.

The idea is clear, get as many audiences in the first week itself.

The youth of Kerala may prefer oldies to make way for the younger lot in politics, but in films they still dote on two middle-aged superstars — Mohanlal and Mammootty.

These two stars, who have been ruling the roost from the mid-1980s are the heartthrobs of the new generation too, according to the Deccan Chronicle C-fore survey conducted among youth aged from 18 to 25.

And among the two ‘Big Ms,’ Mohanlal has an edge over Mammootty with 29 per cent of the youth terming him the most popular actor. Mammootty comes next with 23 per cent plumping for him.
Among Mohanlal fans, the majority are males (38 percent) and females constitute only a moderate chunk (19 per cent) in comparison.

At the same time, adorers of Mammootty are almost equally matched in gender with males comprising 24 per cent and females 22 percent. This jells with a popular survey held two years ago in which women voted Mammootty as the sexiest star of Kerala.

Among the young crowd, only Prithviraj is able to more or less match the two ageing superstars with 20 per cent of the respondents cheering for him. Of this, only 10 per cent are men and 30 per cent are women, understandably so.

The middle-level actors get ‘moderate’ approval with 5 per cent endorsing Dileep and four per cent choosing Jayaram.

The outspoken Thilakan, who took out a fight with the superstars last year, also gets the approval of five per cent.

Interestingly, the new crop of actors — Kunjacko Boban, Jayasurya, Kailash, Ajmal Ameer and Vineeth Sreenivasan — get lukewarm response from the youth. Only one per cent of respondents felt enthusiastic about them. Asif Ali is slightly better at two per cent but that is no consolation.

“The Kerala youth identify with younger stars of Bollywood and not those of Malayalam films,” said the well-known film critic, Mr C.S. Venkiteswaran.

“They don’t think the younger stars of Kerala are hep enough.”

Mr Venkiteswaran also felt that the popularity of Mammootty and Mohanlal among the youth had more to do with their absolute dominance of television which created the ambience for film viewing. “The young actors are not getting the space they deserve because of this,” he said.
