Mohanlal’s Vismayas Max film bags award
Mohanlal’s Vismayas Max Animation Studio has won yet another honour. One of the films in the Emposho animation series made by the production team of Vismayas has won the award for the best animation film for children in the second Kerala State Children’s Educational Film Festival which concluded in Kollam the other day.
The Emposho series is based on Chinese Zen stories and the film ‘Who Needs A Master’ in the series won the award. It tells about a student who is found stealing and is going to be thrown out of the school by other students. But a teacher intervenes and advises that such persons should be shown the right path through proper education and guidance.
The award was received by Deepak Sivarajan, associate director, on behalf of Vismayas.

A treat in store for Mohanlal fans in UAE

The week-long festival of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s 30 years in the film industry was celebrated with an exclusive exhibition-cum sale of 200 caricatures and some rare photographs of the actor at The Bubble Lounge, Dubai World Trade Centre.
Mohanlal, chief guest Yusuff Ali MA, MD, EMKE Group, caricature artist Suresh Babu, photographer R Gopalakrishnan and hundreds of Mohanlal fans were present at the occasion.
The event was organised by Executive bachelors.com in association with City Vision Advertising and Dubai Studio City.
The festival celebration, kicked off on June 23, is an official event of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2009 and will go on till June 27.
The UAE will witness unique expressions of the life and works of the celebrity actor.
Suresh Babu has attempted to capture the essence of Mohanlal in his art by creating caricatures of the actor’s most vivid characters in a career that spanned three decades.
An exclusive photographic collection of the actor by the well-known photographer R Gopalakrishnan Nair from his debut film Thiranottam to the forthcoming film Brahmaram directed by Blessy, found a place in the exhibition.
Part of the proceedings of the celebrations is being contributed towards a charity for the welfare of people stranded in the UAE due to financial constraints.
The celebration will also include the launch of a limited edition coffee table book – a biographic account of the actor’s life and career.
The celebration will culminate in a specially conceptualised musical show directed by Lal Salaam, TK Rajeev Kumar and produced by MB Sanil Kumar, which will showcase Mohanlal’s extraordinary journey in the film industry.
The show will also feature a live performance by the actor in a unique monologue musical that will also feature singers Sujatha, Madhu Balakrishnan, Vijay Yesudas and Swetha, dancer-actors Lakshmi Gopalswami and Vineeth.
The UAE is the launch pad for this mesmerising show, which will continue touring the world – USA, Europe and the Far East later.
The first show was held in Dubai at the Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai World Trade Center last Thursday and the second show will be held at the National Theatre in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Janakan - Synopsis
Suresh Gopi and Mohanlal are together again in debutant director Sanjiv N.R’s new untitled thriller. Suresh Gopi plays a villager Viswanathan, a family man married to Nirmala played by Kaveri and is the father of a college going girl played by newcomer Priya. His best friends in the film are played by Biju Menon and Harisri Asokan. Due to certain circumstances Suresh Gopi and his friends get involved in a murder, and they are on the run. The friends can be saved only by one man- Advocate Suryanarayanan, played by Mohanlal! In the film Mohanlal makes a 20 minute cameo appearance as the brilliant criminal lawyer. Can Lal save Gopi and friends from the hangman’s noose, is what the climax of the film is about? The film has been written by veteran script writer S.N Swamy, and is said to be a “family crime thriller”. The others in the cast are Tamil villain Sampath, Vijayaraghavan, Ganesh Kumar, Vijayakumar, Jyothirmayi, Ranjita Menon etc. The film produced by Arun is being distributed by Maxlab Films.

Mohanlal attends the Vidyaamruth Sangam at Amritapuri
On the eve of Mata Amritanandamayi’s birthday, Mohanlal arrived at Amritapuri (kollam,Vallikavu) to be a part of Vidyaamruth Sangam, the huge charity program that was organized by Mata Amritanandamayi charitable trust
Financial aid for two thousand more children, whose parents were farmers who had committed suicide after having debts, was provided on the occasion. Governor R. S. Gavai and Minister Vayalar Ramohanlal and Amrithanadamay (1)vi were the chief guests of the evening.
Mohanlal, dressed in a white shirt and trousers, garlanded Amma, and touched her feet in reverence. He said that Amrithapuri has become a pilgrim center, that the whole world is looking froward to. He added that millions of people are attracted to the place, solely on account of two letters that make up the most sublime Mantra – Amma.

Geetu Mohandas enters marital life
Famous south indian film actress Geethu Mohandass got married to cinematographer Rajiv Ravi in Kochi, Kerala on Nov 14th 2009.the function was held at kadavanthra indoor stadium at 7.30 pm. The couple has been dating since the last 2 years .
Rajiv Ravi is a graduate from the Pune Film Institute. Geetu’s actual name is Gayathri Mohandas.She started her acting career in 1986 when she was five years old alongside Mohanlal in the movie “Onnu Mudhal Poojyam Vare”. She has also received Kerala State Film Award for the best actress for her role in Akale and Oridam, both released in 2004.

MohanLal’s upcoming latest movie Shikaar
Most of you remembers the Blessy movie ‘Bhramaram’. I know no one can forget the powerpacked performance of Mohanlal in that movie. This Blessy film had the star as a person who is trapped all his life, due to an incident that happened in his childhood. After that Mohanlal once again coming in such a role.
The new malayalam movie Shikaar features mohanlal as a Lorry Driver and his character name is Balaraman. The movie also tells story of revenge and deceit similar to that of bharamaram.
Movie ‘Shikaar’ is getting ready to enter production. The movie will be a revenge story in the backdrop of the life of working class. ‘Naadodigal’ fame Ananya will appear as Ganga while the others in the cast includes Jagathy, Mukesh, Nandita Das, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, ‘Thalaivasal’ Vijay, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
Director M Padmakumar is behind this project while S. Suresh Babu is handling the script. The movie which had its pooja at Kochy, last week will start its shoot by the first week of March.
Special meeting on Christian Brothers held by AMMA and KFPA
Last day, a special meeting was held in kochi by Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) to discuss about the vexing issue regarding the making of Joshy directed multi-starrer Christian Brothers. Last month KFPA had decided that the total production cost of a film with a superstar should not go beyond Rs 3.5 crores and filming should be completed by 45 days of time.
AMMA and along with director including Joshi protested against this decision and thats why KPFA held meeting last day. KFPA argument was that the total cost of such a big multi-starrer will be almost double of the prescribed budget, and hence it should not be made. But producers Anoop and Subair, director Joshy feels it will fit in within the prescribed budget.
At the meeting Movie artists in Kerala today agreed to reduce their remuneration to help the crisis ridden Malayalam film industry suffering yearly losses of over Rs 150 crore. Another decision taken is the film director and producer will have to give the script to the actors 45 days ahead of commencement of shooting but the quantum of reduction has not been decided.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to play Priyanka’s husband
To the surprise of everyone and which one can expect from the Kaminey director Vishal Bhardwaj that he has signed in Malayalam superstar Mohanlal Vishwanathan Nair and Priyanka Chopra for his ambitious film Seven. As the name of film indicates Priyanka will have seven husbands in the film and Mohanlal will be one of them. Everyone is just wondering about the pairing as how a 50-year-old, big and fatty actor will look against 27-year-old hot babe of Bollywood.
A source from Vishal’s office has confirmed the news of casting the Malayalam actor. Mohanlal has won four National Awards and has huge fan following in Kerala. Vishal had to spend two day in Kerala to talk to him chasing with his fans. However the director is now free to cast six other actors, who eventually will marry to the hottie in the film.
Well, but after roping in Mohanlal, it will not be big task for Vishal. Mohanlal previously appeared in Ram Gopal Varma’s films Company and Aag.
